L&B came to me through the very talented Laura of Fig and Squill (instagram/website) floral design in Rhode Island. They had just gotten married at The Aquidneck Club (website/instagram) with the incredible planner, Brilliant Event Planning (website/instagram). Their wedding brought together the couples’ heritages in sweet and meaningful ways. After the celebrations, surrounded by flowers, L & B didn’t realize how much their flowers would mean to them. They had connected with me after the flowers were at their optimum. Working with Laura at Fig and Squill, I was to able to order the same type of flowers that were gracing their celebration. We patiently waiting for the peonies, delphinium, orchids, ranunculus etc to come alive again. When doing this it is a good reminder that the flowers blooming at the time of your wedding may not be still be blooming when you get in touch with me. Thankfully everyone was patient. This project started in earnest a year after their wedding, when the flowers were blooming again. Thankfully everyone agreed, the wait was worth it. This work truly is about love and patience.
I created three pieces of art for them.
The Main Event, as we grew to call it, is a collage brought together floral elements from their very important Sofrah display, the sweetheart table setting as well as flowers from Layla’s bouquet. Laura had designed a gorgeous display of pinks, blues, pales yellows, white and green. With a request from the couple to be bold I created this tall collage of cascading and bursting flowers on a dark charcoal background. The colors, textures and different planes of interested throughout the collage really create a visual feast. You can see something new and different with every viewing. The delicately carved gold frame is a natural finishing touch.
Layla wore a Hakui lei. A crown of white orchids and ferns from a ceremony in Hawaii. We were able to purchase the Dedronium Orchids and I recreated the crown from a photo of her wearing the lei.
The third piece: Layla and Ben’s invitation and program suite were very important to them, created by Champagne and Ink (website/ instagram) Combining these elements with their treasured flowers seemed natural. The flowers and the paper pieces dance around this 32 x 32 collage. Flowers bring the exquisite paper pieces to a new life.

This is their google review. I’m all verklempt.
“From the beginning, Linda was incredibly communicative, patient, and creative. We decided way late that we wanted to preserve our flowers – after our wedding! Linda met with us and we had an incredible conversation about the wedding, the meaningful details, our flowers, and what we were envisioning for our pieces. We weren’t sure quite what we wanted, and Linda really helped us along and heard our ideas. We also trusted Linda’s artistic ability and vision, which turned out to be the best decision we ever made. She turned our wedding flowers into true works of art that will hang in our home for decades to come. What started as just the idea of “we want to preserve our flowers” turned into a gorgeous three piece triptych, including Linda repurposing a frame and re-setting our wedding invitations on a background of flowers. She also made us a gorgeous paperweight with our flowers encased. Every step of the way, Linda walked us through and worked her magic. She is so creative, kind, effervescent, patient, and communicative. She even worked with our florist to get the flowers that were most important to us, translating our vague vision into true art!“
